This thread is a temporary one so we can respond to members when they have questions about posting. You might find some hints to help you as well.

We're all still in a learning curve with proboards, so if you know of a better way to do something, please post!

Using 'Preview' when creating a post.

When you create a post you'll see BB and Preview tabs on the lower left. It doesn't matter which tab you use when you are creating a post. Preview is easier to read since you aren't seeing a lot of coding.

Even in 'Preview' you are generally going to see links instead of photos or videos. This shouldn't be a problem since you know what photos and videos you are posting. 

When you hit 'Create Post',  the photos and videos will show in your post. The links won't.

If you are posting a larger number of photos and want to be able to keep them straight and to see them in Preview, consider using 'Insert Image' and paste the photo link into it:

When you use 'Insert Image' and are in 'Preview' mode,  your photos will show in your preview.

Embedding Instagram Photos

First copy the Instagram photo, depending on how you can do it.

--on my laptop I can go to the person's instagram main page and right-click on 'copy link address'.

--If I am instead looking at a picture on an instagram scroll, I click the 3 little dots in the lower right to copy the embed code:

 



Click on this button to paste the photo address or to paste the embed code:



Click on the Instagram button (and note all the other buttons!):



When you post you should see your instagram photo.

Be sure to click on and check out all the little icon boxes, both in the topics and in the shout box. Proboards does a wonderful job with copying and pasting links.


If you want to copy a link to any post that is on our Dome proboards:

• There's a little gear box at the top right on the post. Click and select 'link to post' on the drop-down.  Copy the link.

If you want to post any link in the shout box, either from this site or from other sites: 

• Click on the little globe icon at the top of the shout box. Paste your link between the 'url's'.

Mobile phone tip:

If you are looking at this site via your mobile phone, at the bottom of the site you can switch between desktop and mobile views. The desktop view shows you the shoutbox and left column items. Both versions look good on a mobile.

Hi everyone. I know there have been a few questions regarding how to post shouts on the shout box as there was no send button. I found today an option for adding a send button so now you can post your shouts either by using the send button or the enter/return key. Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Proboards likes url's for copying into their links. It's fantastic but sometimes it's hard to find the proper link.

Sometimes I will right-click on the photo, and 'Properties' will be at the bottom of the list. I click on it. It will usually show the image address. I quick-click on it 3 times (to insure it's all selected), and voila, I have my image address for pasting in the proboards link.

Be sure you click on the right proboards icon button to paste it into. Picture for pictures, and the <> icon for all the social media sites, videos etc.

I've learned a few tips through dozens of posts--

1. The 'Find' button to the right of the 'Quick Reply' box at the bottom of the page will open a regular posting box. That was nice, that I didn't have to scroll to the top all the time. You can even paste the text into the Quick Reply box, then hit 'Reply' and it will open the regular reply box with the text for you to format and finish.

2. The </> icon in the 'create post' bar is truly my best friend. Click on it to see all the different places you can link from. It will pick up both the photo and the text. Saves lots of time.

--when I want to copy from instagram, I click on the name of the person posting the picture. I then find the picture they posted on their main page, and right-click on 'copy link address'. I then come back here, click on the instagram icon, and paste the link address into the box titled 'instagram post url'.

--my work computer doesn't show 'copy link address' for some reason. Instead I click on 'properties' and it shows up there.

--with Twitter, I'll click on the three dots '...' and scroll down to 'link to this tweet'. It will pop it into a tweet, but I just copy it and embed it in the tweet icon box.

--with Facebook posts, I click on the specific post and then copy the address in menu bar. Then I paste it into the Facebook icon here.

3. Tumblr isn't included in the '</>' box. I right click and select 'copy image address' for tumblr pictures and gifs. You can generally just paste the link into your post and it will show up when you post. If not, go into 'edit', click on the photo icon, and then paste the image address there. You will need to do this for each image you want to paste from a tumblr post.

4. Youtube video links just need to be pasted into your post, they will embed on their own. Use the 'Insert Video' icon to paste the addresses on others. It doesn't always work, I've found. Also, if you are pasting a youtube video, you generally need to go back to youtube to click on their link. Links of youtube videos taken from secondary sources don't always work.

In today's world all our computers and mobiles function a bit differently, so you may need to find your own ways. But once you do, you'll find easy posting. Also, I have literally posted all day here, and not a single blip. Amazing, after what we went through before.

I am having a problem with all photos or parts of most recent photo groups disappearing. There is no problem with my tumblr where I get them from, they are fine there. It is not my internet connection or tumblr itself. The same thing shows when I check it from my phone from my son's place, or my dad's. Exactly the same...missing photos. I am not having this problem anywhere but here. I checked.

I thought, oh well, I'll just go find all of them again, edit and put them all back and delete the blank spaces that were left. It took me a very long time to do that, but I did it. An hour after finishing it's happening again. I am tired and disgusted. I haven't even had anything to eat today because of this.

I am using the photo inserter for every single photo. Anyone know what's going on?

I don't think they make copying from tumblr easy, and we told them that.

See if any of these work--

Try using the 'insert image' button and pasting the link into it.

Use the the "image address".  Don't do just a straight 'copy/paste' click, or insert the copy of the link to the tumblr post. If you right click on the picture, you'll usually see 'copy image address', or in 'properties', where you can find it.

I'm going to test my tumblr copy here, let's see if it disappears--





Also, if it is one or two particular tumblrs, they may have it set so they can't be hot-linked and will disappear. I don't know how and I doubt that's the case, though. That's how we get 'x' blank boxes. But in going through clean-up and moving posts from yuku, I noticed a number of tumblr pictures missing.

If anyone has better explanations, please shout.

I think tumblr's also disappear when people close their account's out.  Not saying that is what is going on in this case but I know some of the one's we had in Gustaf's forums are from tumblr accounts that no longer exist. My suggestion would be to save the picture to a photo bucket account, and post the picture from something like photo bucket versus hot linking. That way the picture is now saved in a separate location from the original source. Of course in your post...site the source you obtained the photo from and you can just copy and paste any additional info the tumblr owner had posted along with the picture.  And I haven't had any problems with using the copy image address, and the insert photo button.  That has worked well for all pics I've posted.

I'm testing the 'attachments' button on the top right. This allows you to attach a picture you have on your computer. I just inserted two pictures I had sitting on my computer for Joel. Another option in posting.
