I don't know how I missed this conversation the other day, but I'd like to comment on it now. The guys are all really good actors, I agree. Even if I am really biased in favor of Alex! (he's such a stand out talent, total package, in my eyes.) They have to pick and choose from roles they have offered and available to them at the time. Often, I'm sure the choices are far from what they'd like to be doing at that time, but they have to pick and go after something 'cause, shit, work is work and they got bills to pay after all. Like all of us do. I bet there's a lot of times when it's a choice between something that's maybe so-so and a project that's probably going to be a real stinker. A guy's gotta eat so they choose the less of two evils. I'm thinking this is kind of what went down when Alex was offered to go for Straw Dogs. He needed a project, wanted something different than what he's played before to avoid being typecast. He was going to get to play this dark character. I'm sure he was all enthusiastic and positive going about it, too! (he's so cute when he's talking about his projects! So animated!) He just wants to succeed in his career so bad! He knows being typecast keeps him from the type of roles he wants and that will hold his own interest in acting in the long run. I love this about him. So smart, professionally! Now, I'm sure he has more choices to pick from.
I've kind of had a change of heart about going to see Straw Dogs. Because of everyone's kind consideration to post their opinions, I'm now of the view that I can handle it. I want to check it out myself. And, of course, I strongly desire to see Alexander on a really big screen, even if it is in a really dark role. Seeing it on DVD won't do that for me. So I will be going to see it at the movies. Won't be tonight though, 'cause I will be getting my skin blown off by the force of sound that is known as the FooFighters! yes!!! Rock 'N Roll Headbanger
