NEW - The Kill Team & Alexander Skarsgård featured in TOTAL FILM (March 2020 issue) with new promo stills
Writer/director Dan Krauss on Sergeant Deeks (played by Alexander Skarsgård): “There’s this aura around him. This magnetic force that Alex brings with him as an actor, but also in the performance. He’s incredibly careful and astute in how he rewards loyalty and punishes disloyalty.”
Q&A with Alexander Skarsgård
How would you describe Deeks?
(AS) Deeks views himself as a warrior and subscribes to the notion of good versus evil. He’s doing the right thing. He feels that the rules of engagement are written by people that are not out on the field. They have no relationship to reality. They don’t know what it’s like out there. He has lost friends to IEDs and that’s how he justifies doing what he’s doing out there.
What was it about this character that made you want to be involved with another war project?
(AS) I also played a sergeant in Generation Kill but diametrically opposite. Sergeant Colbert’s morality is intact. He’s an incredible human being and an incredible soldier. And the kind of leader you want. Deeks is not. Thematically, tit was something I hadn’t explored before in a dynamic that I think is relatable to people in civilian life as well. It’s obviously heightened out there because you’re surrounded by people with weapons, but I think it’s quite relatable to most people.
How was it working with Nat Wolff?
(AS) I loved working with Nat and we’re working again now on The Stand. I’m really excited to be with working with him again.
The Kill Team is available on DVD and Digital download on April 13, 2020 in the UK.
My digital scan and transcription. Still photographer was Manolo Pavón. Also pictured: Nat Wolff as Andrew Briggman.
