While Bill is over the sea (well, at least from my geographical situation) in Canada, let’s have a look at his second, European, project of this year that we could definitely look forward to.
Our tall green eyed guy was casted for the role of Otto in upcoming Norwegian movie Victoria based on the book of the same name written by Nobel Prize winner, Norwegian writer Knut Hamsun. The story of the book is quite a typical love story and I bet you will love it from the first moment! It is also for the very first time when this story will be presented in film with purely Norwegian dialogues. Website of the Norwegian film institute says following information about the story:
Nobel Prize winner Knut Hamsun’s immortal novel “Victoria” from 1898 was the original love story. It has everything a filmmaker and a cinema audience could wish for: young love, class differences, success against all odds, costumes, glorious settings and a heartbreaking ending when Victoria confesses her true love to the man she didn’t get but should have had – before she succumbs to tuberculosis.
It is going to be a sad story but I trust director Torun Lian that it will be unforgettable, lovely movie. Speaking of something unforgettable and lovely, check out the beautiful photos of the cast (and Bill especially) in their late 19th century costumes. There’s something about tall guys in the historic suits that just can’t keep my eyes off. I should add that the pretty young lady playing Victoria is called Iben Akerlie and “the other guy” Johannes who is winning her heart is Jakob Oftebro, a son of another famous father. Well, see them for yourself:
The filming of Victoria was held mostly in Oslo, Norway and in beautiful Dalsland province in Sweden. Actually, to see a bit more how it looks like there on North you can (and should) definitely look at the Facebook page (in Norwegian) of the film. There are lots of amazing photos of set and nature around it.
Wrapped up in late June, now it’s the time for all those post-production things that normal immortals simply don’t understand. Release date is planned for winter 2013, so embrace yourself with patience until the winter comes…
