The stars of AMC-turned-Netflix drama The Killing have been tapped to topline Amazon Studios' adaptation of Hanna, with newcomer Esme Creed-Miles set for the title role.Kinnaman's casting comes as he's currently generating strong reviews for his role in Netflix drama Altered Carbon. The actor will not return for a likely second season of the drama after he signed a one-year deal to star.
Hanna, picked up to series in May, is based on Joe Wright's 2011 film that Saoirse Ronan.It is a high-concept thriller and coming-of-age drama that follows the journey of an extraordinary young girl as she evades the relentless pursuit of an off-book CIA agent and tries to unearth the truth behind who she is.
Enos takes on the role of Marissa, an efficient and ruthless agent who has risen up the ranks of the CIA. However, beneath her cool exterior is a deeply buried secret that continues to haunt her. The reappearance of Hanna and her father Erik threaten to expose the past she has worked to repress.
Kinnaman will portray Erik, a hardened, intuitive and uncompromising soldier and mercenary, who, for the past 15 years, has raised his daughter in the remote forests of northern Poland. Isolated from the world he once knew, he has trained Hanna in every method of survival, with his only goal, to keep her safe. But, his teenage daughter begins to seek freedom from the restricted haven he has created.
Creed-Miles (Dark River) takes on her first leading role as Hanna, an extraordinary teenage girl who has lived all her life in a forest in Northern Poland until becoming the heart of an unraveling conspiracy. Hanna feels she must leave the confinement of the forest to experience life, but once in the world, Hanna is hunted by Marissa and others connected to Hanna's hidden origins and exceptional abilities.
David Farr, who co-wrote the original Focus Features film and most recently adapted John Le Carre’s The Night Manager at AMC, penned the script. Wright will not be involved with the project. Sarah Adina Smith (Legion) will direct the pilot. JoAnn Alfano exec produces for NBCUniversal International Studios, with Andrew Woodhead overseeing for Working Title Television. Marty Adelstein, who produced the original film, and Becky Clements of Tomorrow Studios will also exec produce. Tom Coan co-exec produces, as Hugh Warren produces. Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner will also be credited as EPs for Working Title.

Enos, who recently did two seasons of ABC Shondaland drama The Catch, and Kinnaman spent four seasons starring on The Killing, the first three for AMC with Netflix saving the series from cancellation for a final, abbreviated run. Enos is repped by CAA, Gartner/Green Entertainment and attorney Mitch Smelkinson. Kinnaman is with WME, Magnolia Entertainment and attorney Creed Miles. Smith is with WME and Principato-Young.
